Why there is no banner

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, consent is needed to store information on your device unless that storage is strictly necessary for a service you have actively asked for. Everything this app stores is the service: a quote builder that forgot your quotes the moment you closed it would not work. There is no tracking, no profiling and no third party storage, so the strictly necessary exemption applies and no consent prompt is required.

Exactly what is stored, and why

• bgrdQuoteSettings holds business details, logo, payment details, rates, currency, units, industry and preferences, so you do not retype them on every job.
• bgrdQuotes holds saved quotes, including any client details you entered on them.
• bgrdTrips holds logged trips and their costs, including any receipt photos.
• bgrdBooks holds your expense log and year figures.
• bgrdAccess holds your access code, so you only enter it once on this device.
• bgrdSplash is a single session flag so the opening animation plays once per visit.

All of it is first-party, stored by your browser, readable only by this app on this device, and kept until you delete it.

Getting rid of it

Use Books → Export & Backup → Backup first if you want to keep a copy, then clear this site's data in your browser settings, or delete the app from your home screen. Everything goes, including your access code. There is nothing left behind on a server, because there is no server.

A word about backups

A backup file is a plain, unencrypted JSON file containing your quotes, client details and receipts. Treat it like a filing cabinet: keep it somewhere you would be comfortable keeping your client records, and do not email it around casually.

1 · The agreement

These terms are between you and BigRed Media Limited (company number 15108231, registered office Avondale, Thornbury Avenue, Blackfield, Southampton, SO45 1YP), referred to below as "we" and "us". By entering an access code and using Quote Builder, you accept them. If you do not, do not use the app and contact us about a refund.

2 · Your licence

On purchase you get a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Quote Builder for your own business, on devices you personally use. You may not resell it, sub-licence it, publish your access code, or share it outside your own business. We may disable a code we reasonably believe has been shared or published. We keep all intellectual property in the app itself; you keep everything you make with it.

3 · Access codes

Your code arrives by email on purchase. Treat it as you would a password. We can re-send a code to the original purchase email, but we cannot replace one you have published or given away.

4 · Your data is yours, and only yours

Everything you enter stays on your device. We have no copy and cannot recover it. Not if your phone is lost, stolen, reset, or its browser data cleared, and not if you delete the app. Backing up is your responsibility and the app gives you a one-tap backup to do it. We are not liable for data you lose.

5 · What this app is, and is not

Quote Builder is a calculator and a document generator. It is not accounting software, tax software, or a substitute for professional advice.

• The contract is a working template, not legal advice. Have a solicitor review it before you rely on it for anything that matters.
• The tax set-aside is a rough cash-flow guide, not a tax calculation. Your accountant has the final word, and HMRC will not accept "the app said so".
• Default rates, percentages and the HMRC mileage figure are starting points that go out of date. Check current rates before you send anything.
• Currency selection changes the symbol only. It does not convert anything.
• You are responsible for checking every figure on every document before it goes to a client.

6 · Availability

The app runs in your browser and works offline once loaded. We aim to keep it available and to fix problems, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may update it, change features, or stop selling it. Updates arrive automatically when you reopen it online.

7 · Refunds and cancellation

Quote Builder is digital content supplied immediately. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you normally have 14 days to cancel a distance purchase, but that right is lost once supply of digital content begins with your agreement, which is what happens when you are sent your access code. You are asked to acknowledge this at checkout.

None of that limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the app is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality. If it does not work as it should, email hello@bgrd.co.uk and we will repair, replace or refund. In practice, if you bought it recently and it is not right for you, tell us and we will sort it out.

8 · Liability

The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost business, lost data, or any loss arising from a quote, invoice or contract produced with it, including one priced wrongly, sent to the wrong person, or relied on in a dispute. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the app.

Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you use the app as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

9 · Changes

We may update these terms. The version in the app is the current one, and material changes will be noted in release notes. Continuing to use the app means accepting the current version.

10 · Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
